K-FLEX acoustic insulation solutions are designed for noise reduction in industrial application e.g. piping, industrial processes etc.
A complete multilayer system based on both closed cells and open cells FEF materials provides acoustic insulation according to ISO 15665:2003 Class A, B, C; Shell DEP specification n°31 Class D; NORSOK STD R-004: Class 6, 7, 8; ASTM E1222.
Different materials with different proprieties feature different performance in the system. Each layer has been designed for a specific purpose.
Closed cells FEF layer (K-FLEX ST or K-FLEX HT) works as a mechanical decoupling.
Open cells FEF layer (K-FLEX K-FONIK OPEN CELL) provides sound absorption and dissipation.
High density material (K-FLEX K-FONIK GK/GV) works as mass barrier and sound insulator.
External jacketing layer (K-FLEX IN CLAD) provides mechanical and weather protection.
ISO 15665:2003 defines the acoustic performance of three classes (classes A, B and C) of pipe insulation. It is applicable to the acoustic insulation of cylindrical steel pipes and to their piping components. It is valid for pipes up to 1 m in diameter and a minimum wall thickness of 4,2 mm for diameters below 300 mm, and 6,3 mm for diameters from 300 mm and above.
ISO 15665:2003 covers both design and installation aspects of acoustic insulation and provides guidance to assist noise control engineers in determining the required class and extent of insulation needed for a particular application.
